RAWALPINDI: The sacrifice of the martyred Rashid Minhas, the Pilot Officer, has been remembered by the Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG-ISPR) on his 49th death anniversary. He was awarded the Nishan-i-Haider.
Babar Iftikhar, the Major General, said in a tweet that the supreme sacrifice of Rashid Minhas Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider)is being remembered. He was in the line of duty. He lived up to the great traditions of Pakistan Air Force Serving the motherland.
He was a brave son of Pakistan, and he was born on 17 February 1951 in Karachi. He belonged to the famous Minhas clan that is basically from Rajput.
He was interested in the aircraft and aviation from childhood. Finally, he went to aviation, where he was truly destined. He was commissioned as the pilot in Pakistan Airforce in 1971.
He was honored with the Nishan-E-Haider as he was the youngest man in history. Similarly, he was the only officer who was awarded this award.
However, the Air Force base at Kamra was renamed as PAF base Minhas. It is also known as Minhas-Kamra.
