After the completion of the national team’s tour of England, Misbah-ul-Haq is likely to be removed from the post of chief selector as the Pakistan Cricket Board has felt that Misbah-ul-Haq is now only acting as head coach.
According to a Press Trust of India report, the Pakistan Cricket Board now feels that the burden on Misbah-ul-Haq should be reduced so that he can focus more on his work as head coach as the next three years are marked by important ICC events.
Misbah-ul-Haq is likely to be replaced by a former fast bowler as the chief selector who has been a star in his time and matters with him will be finalized after the series ends in England. Indian media has claimed that the chief Shoaib Akhtar is likely to be given the post of selector while Waqar Younis is also being nominated for the post.
In the third Test match against England, where the fifth bowler was supposed to play, Misbah came under pressure from social media and kept Fawad Alam in the playing XI.
The Press Trust of India, quoting Pakistan Cricket Board sources, claimed that the PCB was focusing on the selection phase of the Pakistan team for the series against England and was also taking a full look at it.
A PCB official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the selection committee had already been reshuffled, adding that new people had joined the committee after the appointment of provincial coaches. The purpose of giving the post to one person is to put the whole burden on one person and hold him responsible.
