Govt allows hike in prices of 95 life saving medicines
The cabinet allows a hike in prices fo 95 life saving medicines in the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
The Federal Cabinet allows a hike in prices of 95 life saving medicines to ensure their availability in the market. These medicines were short in the market because the manufacturing companies had stopped their production due to losses.
“The cabinet allowed increase in the prices of those drugs which are short in the market as their manufacturers have stopped their production due to losses,” Special Assistant to PM told the media.
“When these drugs are not available in the market, patients are compelled to use costly smuggled drugs. For instance, if the price of a drug is Rs10, we have increased it to Rs15. Apparently it is a 50pc increase but we have to save people from buying similar (smuggled) drugs at a cost of Rs300 or above.”
The cabinet has also approved to bring down the price of Remdesivir 100mg injection, the injection is used in COVID-19 treatment. The new price is 8, 244 compared to old price of 10,873.
