LAHORE: The government of Punjab has decided to ban the mobile services for two days i.e., 9th and 10th Muharram, for the sake of protection to the Muharram procession.
This ban on mobile services would be observed in seven big cities of Punjab i.e., Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Chiniot, Bhawalpur, Jhelum, and Okara. However, the schedule of the suspension of the mobile services was also sought by the ministry of interior.
Once the administration gives the schedule, it would be forwarded to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
However, the foolproof security has been arranged in all sensitive places of all districts of Punjab.
Apart from this, the Punjab government also imposed a ban on pillion riding for 9th and 10th Muharram in the province. This ban is imposed under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
This ban would not be applicable to women, senior citizens, children, journalists, security agencies, and personal law enforcement agencies.
On the other hand, the Punjab Police had also sent the military troops to the specific place in the entire province for the sake of maintenance of the law and order situation in Muharram-ul-Haram procession.
