Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar appeared before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) today, during which he was interrogated for about two and a half hours. ۔
According to media reports, former DG Excise Akram Ashraf Gondal has formally requested NAB to pardon the promise and has also recorded his statement. Akram Ashraf Gondal was also summoned to record his statement yesterday. The statement could not be recorded due to a deteriorating situation yesterday, after which the statement has been recorded today. After the approval of Chairman NAB, the statement under section 164 will be recorded in the court. In addition, another government official was questioned. Ongoing and he has also agreed to be a forgiving witness.
In his statement to NAB, Akram Ashraf Gondal admitted that he had told the Chief Minister’s Office that not all NOCs were complete and that the NOC on liquor was illegal, “I was pressured to sign by, Principal Secretary to Punjab Chief Minister Raheel Ahmed Siddiqui.”
In addition, senior journalist Hamid Mir also sent a message on Twitter saying, “In the case of issuing liquor license against Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, two government officials are ready to be pardoned witnesses, one belongs to the Excise and Taxation Department. The other belongs to the staff of the Chief Minister. Both of them have contacted the NAB. New complaints have also come against the Chief Minister.
