Educational Institutes to reopen in phases from 15 September
Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood announced on Monday that Educational Institutes to reopen in phases from 15 September.
Pakistan closed all education institutes in March over the spread of COVID-19. Now with just over 6000 active cases in the country, Officials have decided to open the educational institutes in phases.
Education Minister told the media “All universities, Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) institutes, and colleges will be reopened from September 15. [The government] has allowed for classes of grades IX, X, and XI to be conducted [from September 15] as well.”
In phase one, Universities, colleges, and classes 9-12 to resume on Sept 15. In phase two junior classes, 6-8 to return on Sept 23 after a review. The primary Schools will open in the last phase on 30 September.
It will be made sure that SOPs are being followed strictly through all phases. Minister told the media if SOPs are violated anywhere then we will be forced to take action.
Shafqat Mehmood further added, “It means we will open all these institutions in 15 days if things remain okay,”. Mehmood also told media that decision is being taken after considering all the possibilities, National Command and Operation Center(NCOC) has conducted various researches and consulted with various experts and panels before coming to conclusion.
