DG Excise has the authority to issue liquor licenses, a representative of Punjab CM submits a response to NAB
Lahore: Advocate Obaidullah, representing the Punjab Minister, presented his response to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
The response from the Chief Minister of Punjab stated that there was no illegal activity regarding the liquor license, no involvement in the licensing of liquor, the authorization of the liquor license was based on DG Excise, and the Governor had issued licenses in 2000 and 2001.
In his reply, the Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar said 11 liquor licenses had been issued so far, nine of which were issued by DG Excise itself.
In response, it was alleged that Judge Shahid Karim of the Supreme Court ordered the revocation of the relevant hotel license in 2019. The federal court is awaiting a decision from the Lahore High Court’s decision.
