LAHORE: Usman Buzdar, the Chief Minister of Punjab, released guidance for both the Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) and local government members to implement strategic steps to prevent urban flooding throughout intense rainfall in different areas of the province.
He directed round-the-clock management of drainage systems, streams, and irrigation canals and asked for preventive actions in low-lying areas to cope with any urban flooding situation.
CM Buzdar thus directed all of the necessary infrastructures, machinery, and services to be accessible to the concerned departments and threatened them of strict operations if rainwater is not withdrawn in a reasonable time from the streets and markets.
At least nine citizens, including two girls, perished in 3 different provinces due to the recent rainfall.
Five people had been killed in Kot Radha Kishan when a building’s roof collapsed as per rescue news agencies. The bodies were taken out of the collapsed debris and transferred to a local hospital. In some other wall destruction accident caused after torrential rainfalls in Gujranwala, two kids lost their lives in Tehsil Wazirabad.
