Barcelona will continue to win without Lionel Messi
‘Barcelona will continue to win without Messi’ – Six-time Ballon d’Or winner will leave ‘sooner or later’, says Luis Enrique, former Barcelona Manager
The Barca superstar and greatest player stunned the world when he announced that he wants to leave FC Barcelona. Messi decided to use a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave at the end of the season. But later on, the club said his 700m euro (£624m) release clause would have to be met.
Former Barca coach, Luis Enrique told media that sooner or later, Messi is going to leave. ‘Barcelona will continue to win with without Messi’, He further added.
Messi is visibly upset with the club’s decision of demanding 700m euros for his release. “I thought and was sure that I was free to leave,” Messi told in an interview.
I told the president and, well, the president always said that at the end of the season I could decide if I wanted to go or if I wanted to stay and in the end he did not keep his word.
“Now I am going to continue in the club because the president told me that the only way to leave was to pay the 700m clause. and that this is impossible.”
“Now they cling to the fact that I did not say it before 10 June, when it turns out that on 10 June we were competing for La Liga in the middle of this awful coronavirus and this disease altered all the season,” he added.
“There was another way and it was to go to trial. I would never go to court against Barca because it is the club that I love, which gave me everything since I arrived.”
“It is the club of my life, I have made my life here.”
Messi is clearly upset and wants to leave the club, but at the moment it looks difficult for him. Lionel Messi is expected to join the Barca’s pre-season training camp in a few days.
